How to minimize data usage on your phone
Minimizing your data usage on your phone is a great way to save money and conserve resources. There are a few things you can do to reduce your data usage.
First, turn off automatic updates for apps on your phone. You can also turn off background data for apps that don't need to be constantly updated, like social media apps. Additionally, you can disable push notifications for apps that don't need them, like news and weather apps. And finally, you can disable location services for apps that don't need to know your location, like photo editing apps.
TO MINIMIZE DATA USAGE ON IPHONE
Turn off automatic updates on an iPhone, go to Settings > App Store > App Updates and toggle off "Automatic Updates".
To turn off background data for an app on an iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data, and select the app you want to disable. Next, toggle off "Background App Refresh". To disable push notifications for an app on an iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications, and select the app you want to disable.
Lastly, to disable location services for an app on an iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and select the app you want to disable.
HOW TO MINIMIZE DATA USAGE ON ANDROID
For an Android phone, the steps to minimize data usage are similar with Iphone, but the menu options may be in different places.
To turn off automatic updates on an Android phone, go to the Google Play Store app, tap on the menu icon, and then go to Settings > Auto-update apps and toggle off "Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only".
To turn off background data for an app on an Android phone, go to Settings > Apps, select the app you want to disable, and then tap "Data usage" and toggle off "Background data". To disable push notifications for an app on an Android phone, go to Settings select "Notifications", and then select the app you want to disable. Next, tap "Block all" to disable all notifications from the app.
Lastly, to disable location services for an app on an Android phone, go to Settings > Apps, select the app you want to disable, and then tap "Permissions" and toggle off "Location".
